What has God given you to invest?
Many may say, ‘’I don’t have anything to give…”
You are in a great place…however…be careful how you view what you DO have, lest it be taken from you!
The reading from Matthew 25 helped me a lot the other day however today, let’s go a little further.
Do you have a smile? Then give that away…
Do you have clean water? Clothes? Family? Friends? Food? Shelter?
How you view what you do have will totally depend on whether that will be multiplied or not…
I know that sounds weird even a bit crazy, so let’s take a look at a story…
While Jesus was in the Temple, he watched the rich people dropping their gifts in the collection box.
2 Then a poor widow came by and dropped in two small coins.
“I tell you the truth,” Jesus said, “this poor widow has given more than all the rest of them.
4 For they have given a tiny part of their surplus, but she, poor as she is, has given everything she has.” Luke 21:1-4
The amount you have is not of any consequence to God at all…if it were He would be praising up the Pharisees for giving large amounts – which they had the capacity to do. Yet they still missed the point entirely…they missed Him and didn’t even know it.
The blessing of increase is not upon those who give from their abundant earthly supplies in exchange for the praise and occolades of man – but upon those who see abundance in what is supplied (size doesn’t count) and shed it abroad for multiplication…for the assistance of those in need. Therein lies a blessing – a flow of increase!
Malachi 3:9-11, Act 2:33, Acts 4:31-33
Just to take a side track for the moment, I would like to mention this: First…to those of the household of God first…then after…all others.
If those within the household of God where to live this way, all things in common, none of the people of faith would be in a position to need to go to social security or other community services for the provision of food and other goods for daily living. We do not get it…that we as a family of God, are supplied with all the needs for the family of God….and the ever increasing family of God..Hallelujah!
We rely on the systems of the world to do this job for us…for them, that find themselves in such a predicament. Yes, God does provide…however, this may not be His perfect will and way to do so, through the governmental system – do you think? The requirements of the law for people on social security benefits are quite stringent…they need all kinds of information about your current situation and circumstances, they control what you get and what you don’t get.
The requirements of the House of God…Love one another! Give and it will be given unto you…pressed down shaken together and running over… How would it be if the Church, the Bride of Christ, was to take over the responsibility of looking after the poor and needy? Would we do it? Would we press in to God for all the provision needed to supply the needs for all those needy people? The disciples were dubious too….just like we are…
Part 2 is coming…What we have is more than enough…remember the loaves and fish?
