Level of exposure….?

It is such an interesting thing to observe how many of us really do not like being ‘exposed’…what I mean is, that for the most part, we don’t want others to know stuff about us. Why would that be? Do we have something to hide necessarily? Or is it just that perhaps there are things in our lives we might be a little embarrassed about…or even ashamed that someone else would know a detail, that we would rather them not know. What is it about hiding that seems so…well…right?

I’m not suggesting we should allow ”everyone” deep into our private lives. I am however provoking us towards a level of transparency that would allow us to build up and encourage each other, at a deep level, as well as being accountable and teachable in other areas. It is easy to ”stand afar off” and not really get our hands dirty in each others lives.

To say: “Well, it’s not really any of my business that this or that is happening…”what could I do anyway?”.

It is a sign of “greater Love hath no man, than who that lays down his life, for his friends”….when we willingly submit ourselves to one another in this way of sincere Love for one another.

Standing off at a distance, might be the ”correct” thing to do…but is it the Biblical thing to do?

How are we to be like ‘iron sharpening iron’ if we barely get close enough.

We are not so fragile that we would break either, if we were to make a mistake in our attempts to go deeper into relationship with others. It’s a process. It’s a God thing too…He wants us to go deeper into Him and also with each other. There is great safety there…at first, it may not seem so, but truly the effort is worth it!

Messes with our heads…to get to His Heart!

God messes with our heads, to get to the heart of the matter…connecting His heart with ours and also with each other!

I have found this to be true, over and over again…

In terms of the stories in the Bible, it doesn’t take long to realize, that if we read it with only our ‘’conscious’’ mind, we really do find ourselves losing our mind very quickly..because without ‘’suspending’’ our conscious mind for a moment or two, we just would not get any of what He is actually saying.

Just a couple of snippets we read:

His Ways are higher than our ways and also that we have the mind of Christ. We are here on earth, yet seated with Christ in Heavenly places.

The weapons of our warfare are not of this world.

Not to mention stories of people that where so weak, washed out and wicked yet God used them to make Himself known.

He had a fish swallow a man.

A donkey speak to a prophet.

Parted the Red Sea, so the Israelite’s could walk on dry land.

Whittled an army down from 30,000 to 300 to win a war.

A women, a virgin, give birth to God.

A carpenter from no where (Nazareth) to be King of the Jews, crucified and rise from the dead.

People of no education saw Him resurrected and testified, with signs and wonders, in the Power of Christ.

How does the Bible make reasonable sense?

I have prayed, at times and more and more often:

“Help us Lord to be unreason-able! To have the ability to stop reasoning and listen to what you are really saying”….and this is what I hear:

“Peace, be still.”

“I Love you with an everlasting Love.”

“I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

“Come to me all you who are weary and I will give you rest.”

“To him who overcomes, I will give to sit with me on my throne”

There is so much more to hear…but that’s a start.

What are you hearing?

URLOVD immensely intimately!

One Amazing Women…

I spent some time with a friend today. She isn’t someone I see that often. Our children used to attend the same school, until it shut down last year…now we are at different schools. We get together for our kids birthdays and we all love the catch up and enjoy to see how much they’ve all grown up. Funny and fun times.  Today our chat was about other things….

She has shared with me before about her life…some of her history, a past that perhaps isn’t what she might be proud of…and she tells me what she does at weekends. It’s not the sort of story you might want to listen to for too long….of night clubs and dance rave parties…of the tales of young people getting wasted and washing down their throats ‘unknown’ substances…of groups of ‘friends’ leaving each other for dead in the gutter, men hauling doped up, drugged up girls off to multi-storey car parks. She tells me all this…and I listen…my heart so heavy I can hardly breathe…my mind cannot comprehend why human beings would do these things to themselves and each other. And she tells me how she is there…

…as often as she can…to help them. Her and a group of mates love to dance and hang out together, they always look out for one another and if one of them goes AWOL for any longer than a few minutes, they are on the hunt to get them back in the fold. They are also part of a team of people that are like ‘first aid” officers…security know who they are and if anyone is found ”out cold” or some other ‘state of being’ they look to this group to assist. In my mind, they are an elite SWAT team…at the ready any moment. Without someone who knows what is going on or what might happen to an individual under these circumstance and influences – a life is lost within minutes.  The task, as I hear it, is overwhelming….exhausting, frustrating…

She told me of how a young girl was found collapsed and a security officer screamed at her to assist…she guided the girl to another spot and quickly went to find her ‘friends’ to take her home. The ‘friends’ denied they knew her. On returning to the girl, she had been whisked away just minutes before…in hot pursuit of her, my friend found herself searching a nearby multi-level parking lot, knowing full well that this case was a goner….and hoping that the end result would not be a traumatic case of unspeakable abuse or worse, the end of a life.  Her efforts, at times, sounds so futile…but all I hear is one amazing women putting herself out there to snatch even one life back from self-destruction.

She’s one of my hero’s…and I cannot cheer her on enough!
